Oct 12th Target Grand Opening Shopping trip/Dinner 1PM - ?? (EC - Mark D)

Come on out and join the bears for a shopping day at Michigan's newest Target store. This is near the corner of Telegraph road and Square Lake road. This is the grand opening so there should be lots of specials and lots of scenery to look at.  ;>)

NOTE: Original post stated that this was a Super Target but that is not the case.  I think it is a Target Greatland.

We will meet up at Don and Marks place about 1 PM.  Then about 1:30 PM travel over to Target for all the grand opening specials.  After we fill our carts we will head out to fill our bellies at Fuddruckers which is just down the road.  Fuddruckers is known for their great burgers.  Each burger is cooked fresh to order and then you top it the way you like at the Works Bar.  Tons of topping to create that perfect burger and all at a very reasonable price.

SuperTarget stores extend the Target brand beyond fashion and home décor by providing guests with a pleasant and convenient grocery shopping experience in addition to the traditional Target store experience.  SuperTarget offers a full grocery line, including a bakery and deli, meat and produce selections.  With an average size of 174,000 square feet per store, SuperTarget’s mix of grocery and merchandise delights our guests by offering the convenience of one-stop shopping.

Oct 18th Frankenmuth Day Trip - Breakfast, Shopping and Dinner 10AM - ??(EC - Scott W)

We have a full day planned but feel free to join us anywhere along the way.  It starts with, what else, FOOD!  This place is a favorite of Dennis, Brad and Tyler’s and from what I hear you will not leave there hungry.

It is north of the city, not too far off of I-75 and it is fairly easy to continue north from there.  Let’s meet for breakfast at 10AM.  There is plenty of room there to leave vehicles as well if anyone wants to car pool from there.  It is right next to the Summit Place Mall at Telegraph and Elizabeth Lake Rd.

Granma's Garden Family Dining
2446 Elizabeth Lake Rd., Waterford, MI 48328
(248) 738-3706

Then it is northward to Frankenmuth for the #1 tourist destination in Michigan.  No it is not Chicken dinners (but that does come later), it’s shopping at Burch Run.  Burch Run has the largest outlet shopping center in Michigan and maybe the Midwest.  It’s big and the hunt for specials will start about 12:30 PM.  This is right at exit 136 on I-75.  Take exit 136 and turn left. About ½ mile is the entrance to the center on the left.  Just look for the double left turn lanes.  Once in the center we will meet up at the management guest services on the far east side of the center.  It is in the building right next to I-75.  They have restrooms there and a nice lounge area.  If you can’t find us give us a call

Scott W 248.921.5362 or Rob P 248.921.3859

Our dinner reservation is for 4:30 PM so about 4:00 PM we will head over to Zehnder’s for a great all you can eat chicken dinner.  They also have an all you can eat buffet as well if you are not a fan of chicken or just want to try more items.  Dinners are just under $20.  Click on the link for more details.

Zehnder's of Frankenmuth (Website)
730 S. Main Street, Frankenmuth, MI 48734

Directions to Zehnder’s
From Detroit: 86 miles. I-75 North to Exit 136.  Then East toward Frankenmuth - two miles. At stop light, turn left onto Gera Road (M-83). M-83 turns into Main Street in Frankenmuth.

After dinner is totally open so we can check out the town, go to Bronner’s for the biggest selection of Xmas stuff in the U.S. or just head for home.  It should be a fun day.

Oct 25th Annual Halloween Party at Don A and Mark D home 7 pm - till ?  (EC - Mark D)

Don and Mark's
Please see the Members only Yahoo group for address details

Halloween has become the second biggest holiday of the year... but then you knew that already, right? The MCB Halloween Party has long been a staple of the MCB’s annual calendar and it’s easy to see why. Every year, many of the bears outdo themselves with magnificent and original costume ideas to showcase their best assets, with sometimes stunning and/or hilarious results!

This years theme is a secret.  We will give out hints as we get closer to the event.  Anyone seen the lights near Don and Mark's house?  Hint Hint (See below for theme)

Pop and ice will be provided. Please BYOB as well as a buffet dish based on the first letter of your last name. Your cooperation will help assure that we don’t have too many of one item and not enough of another.

A-F: Finger foods, side dishes, Soups etc.
G-M: Meat dishes, casseroles, main dishes etc.
N-R: Salads, cheese, deviled eggs, dip trays etc.
S-Z: Desserts

UPDATE: 9/14/08:

As you probably know by now, the details in the past newsletters stating that Alien Spacecrafts have been spotted near Don and Marks home was the hint for the theme this year. So the theme for the costume party will be “Aliens”. Of course you do not have to follow the theme but if you do you may get $50.00 (read below).

Costume prizes will be offered again this year with a new twist.  We will offer three $50.00 prizes for best of category.  The categories are “Scariest”, “Funniest” and “Best in theme”.  Remember that this years theme is “Aliens”.  Only rule is only one prize per person.

Michigan Bearfest (website)

Paraphrased from an email from Douglas Dikker treasurer bearfest. Check the website latest changes and/for full details.

This is the 5th Bearfest. This year it is in Grand Rapids.

Proposed for this year is the normal Friday night meet n greet and a dance right after in the main hall. Saturday at the hotel is a continental breakfast and later a luncheon. That afternoon is a game/dance at the hall and open swimming at the pool. There will be time for afternoon sleep time, then it’s the big dinner and entertainment.

The fest this year will be handled mostly at the hall in the hotel so outside transportation is not going to be provided.  The two main bars are also planning events for this year later in the evening.

Volunteers are needed for the event itself. Look for a sign up sheet for helping at these events. We can all have a good time if we share the workload. A couple hours for one event from members will let everyone have fun.

We have the hotel to ourselves this year. Rooms are the same as last year's price, check with the hotel to confirm. The event fee is 50.00.

Nov 26th Wallyball (Details)

There is no Wallyball this week because of Thanksgiving.

Hope to see you next week on the court.

Nov 26th Second City Dinner and Show - dinner at 6:00 PM. Show starts at 8:00 PM. (EC - Scott W)
Second City Theater (website) / Andiamo's
42705 Grand River Ave.
Novi, MI, 48375
Phone: (248) 348-4448

Come join us for a great dinner/show package the night before Thanksgiving. Our November weekday dinner is once again a double feature with dinner and a show at the Amdiamo’s/Second City Theater. I contacted Amdiamo’s about matching our deal we had last year. After looking online and seeing the group rate is now $30 per person just for dinner I figured there was a slim chance this would happen. I was pleasantly surprised that they said they would match our deal from last year with one catch. They said they have a limited number of deals they can do like this so it is first come first serve. So what we will do is contact you before we purchase the ticket if the price goes up. I have a feeling that the price will not go up but just in case I would recommend that you get your tickets ASAP. We can also just put your name on the list without payment and get a ticket for you. You can pay for it up to the night of the dinner but remember that if you are on the list we do need to collect payment whether you go or not as this is prepaid for.

Second City Theater is now in Novi and Andiamo's runs the restaurant there. Andiamo's is a fine Italian restaurant and is not an inexpensive place. This year MCB is again subsidizing part of the cost for members so we can do a special price. Cost for the dinner and the show package is $25 for members and $30 for non members. You get a great Andiamo's meal from a select menu plus you get the great Second City Show. This also includes, tax and gratuity for the dinner. All you need to pay for are the drinks.

This is a MCB deal only. You can send in a check, pay cash or use PayPal. Again the cost is $25 for members and $30 for non members. (Drinks not included) (cash or check preferred). Also they have a limited number of deals at this price get your tickets soon! Hope to see you there!

Cost $25 for members and $30 for non members (cash or check preferred). (Drinks are not included) PRICE MAY GO UP, GET YOUR TICKETS SOON OR GET ON THE LIST (Once you put your name on the list, you are responsible for payment, even if you do not show or cancel. These tickets are pre-purchased and there is a no refund policy.)

2009 Whole Year Event Planning Meeting / Pizza Party – 6 PM (EC - Scott W)

This is our 2nd year hosting a whole year planning party.  Let's meet up to set up most of the events for 2009.

So head on over to Scott and Rob’s house for Pizza and planning.  We will not totally fill up the calendar, we can leave some areas open for adding additional events during the year as well.   Plan on it taking 2 to 3 hours to do the whole year.  This will also allow for everyone to plan better for our events by knowing way in advance what they are doing.

We will also have pizza and pop and will be asking for donations to help pay for this.  Please BYOB if you want something stronger.  We will get an attendee list going as we get closer to the date so we know how many pizzas to order.

Remember we have 2 long hair cats, smoking outside only and 21 and older please.

Please bring your event ideas or send them to the EC above if you can't make the meeting.

Remember that this is your club so come on out and help us make 2009 a great year for MCB.

Sunday Brunch  at the Grand 12:30 PM (EC - Scott W)

The New MGM Casino (The Palette restaurant)

1777 Third St., Detroit, MI 48226, 1.877.888.2121

We thought it would be fun to end the year with a nice Sunday brunch at the Grand. The MGM has many restaurants but the best all you can eat buffet is the Palette.  The cost is about $25.00 but it is quite a spread from what I have heard.

We will meet in front of the Palette and get ready for lots of food!  There is free multilevel parking adjacent to the casino.  Then the bears head out to check out the place and maybe win a few bucks.

So come on down and maybe you might even become a millionaire, or at least feel like you ate a million dollars worth of food.  ;>)

Please let us know if you are coming as reservations are required.  Sign up list in members only Yahoo group or Email
